Study on the Cytoarchitectonics of the Premotor Area(Brodmann¢¥s Area 6) of the Cerebral Cortex of the Korean

Abstract
Author studied on the cytoarchitectonics of the cerebral cortex in the premotor area(Brodman¢¥s area 6) of one hundred and fifty five Korean brains(maie 81, female 74). The thickness, the relative neuron density and the relative glia density in the cerebral cortex were analysed by the age and the brain weight.
1. The average values of the cortical thickness at the age group of _ +,¢¥ 0-1 year old were 90.0 percent of that of the adult. It increased to the average values of the adult at the age group of 6-10 Years andto the highest value at the age group of 11-15 years, and was corresponded to that of 1,100 gms of the brain weight, thereafter it decreased slowly corresponding with increasing of age.
The mean values of the adult were 2.40 mm in male and 2.54 mm in female.
2. The relative neuron density (numbers of nerve cells in 100,u3 of cortical mass) of both sexes decreased to the average values of the adult at the group of 2-5 years, thereafter it had a tendency to decrease slowly corresponding with increasing of age. It decreased to the average values of the adult when the brain weight was 1,200-1,300 gms, thereafter it decreased very slowly.
The mean values of the adult were 382.7 in male and 399.9 in female.
3. The relative glia density decreased rapidly to the average values of the adult at the age group of 2-5 years as the relative neuron density did, and it was minimum at the age group of 6-10 years, thereafter it increased slowly corresponding with increasing of age. ¢¥When the brain weight was 900-1,100 gms it decreased rapidly to the minimum in both sexes, thereafter it had no distinct variation.
